Terms of Service
1. Introduction and Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the "Merchant", "you", or "your") and AltQuill ("Company", "we", "us", or "our"), governing your access to and use of AltQuill, including altquill.com, our API, and related WordPress/WooCommerce plugins and apps (collectively, the "Service").
By installing our plugin, creating an account, generating an API key, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
AltQuill is an automated assistive software service designed to generate contextual alternative text ("alt text"), image titles, and captions for e-commerce product catalogs. The Service processes images downscaled in memory and merchant-provided product metadata to return suggested text.
3. Merchant Content Ownership
You own your content. As between you and the Company:
- You retain sole ownership, copyright, and all intellectual property rights in and to your product images, product descriptions, catalog metadata, and trademark assets.
- You retain all rights, title, and ownership in the specific text descriptions and metadata generated by AltQuill for your catalog upon delivery.
- We claim no ownership, copyright, or licensing rights over your images or catalog data. We process your data solely to execute the generation requests you initiate.
4. Editorial Responsibility and Assisted Nature of Suggestions
AltQuill is an assistive productivity tool powered by machine learning vision models.
- Hold-for-Approval: By default, AltQuill stages all generated text in a pending review queue within your store admin dashboard.
- Merchant Verification: You acknowledge that automated machine generation may occasionally produce imperfect or incomplete descriptions. You remain solely responsible for reviewing, verifying, editing, and approving all descriptions before publishing them to your live website or catalog.
- No Legal Accessibility Warranty: While AltQuill is engineered to produce descriptions consistent with WCAG 2.1 AA recommendations, the Company does not represent or warrant that using the Service guarantees compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), European Accessibility Act (EAA), or any other statutory accessibility mandate. Complete accessibility compliance depends on your overall theme, layout, code structure, and editorial verification.
5. Acceptable Use and Restrictions
You agree not to:
- Transmit any image or content that infringes upon the copyright, trademark, privacy, or intellectual property rights of any third party;
- Transmit images containing malware, harmful code, child sexual abuse material, or content that promotes illegal acts;
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying model weights, source code, or proprietary algorithms of the Service;
- Circumvent, abuse, or bypass quota limits, rate limits, or API key authentication controls.
6. Plans, Quotas, and Launch Pricing
- Launch Pricing: Plan pricing, image allowances, and features are set forth on our Pricing page. We offer a Free Tier (25 images/month) and paid tiers (Starter at $19/month for 300 images, Pro at $39/month for 1,500 images).
- No Surprise Overages: When your account reaches its monthly image limit, generation requests pause until your monthly quota resets at the start of the next calendar month (00:00 UTC), or until you upgrade your plan. We do not bill unapproved overage fees.
- Billing and Cancellation: Subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis via Stripe. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account portal or by contacting hello@altquill.com. Upon cancellation, your plan remains active through the end of your current prepaid billing cycle.

OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT ACTUALLY PAID BY YOU TO M&M CONSULTING FIRM LLC FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
9. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Company and its affiliates from and against any third-party claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your catalog content, your violation of these Terms, or your publication of descriptions without proper editorial review.
